Grant County Reports

CFS # CFS19-20544 Date 07/24/19 Rollover Causes Two Injuries Address CUSHMAN RD, PLATTEVILLE, WI 53818 On Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at around 9:40 pm, Ron Hodgson, age 50 of Rewey, was traveling west on Cushman Road when he lost control and rolled over into a cornfield. His female passenger, age 46 of Platteville, was also injured in the crash. Hodgson was transported to Southwest Health Center and was arrested for OWI - Causing Injury. Assisting at the scene was Platteville Fire, Southwest Health EMS, and Haase Towing. The crash remains under investigation. **Persons arrested by the Grant County Sheriff's Office are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law. An arrest is only an indication that probable cause exists to bring formal charges.** The names of victims and witnesses to a crime have been withheld .

CFS19-19880 07/19/19 Dump Truck vs Power Line - Road Closed DOGTAIL RD / WHITE ST, POTOSI, WI 53820 On Friday, July 19, 2019 at approximately 12:08 pm a Grant County Sheriff's Deputy responded to a one vehicle crash on Dogtail Rd near White St located in the Township of Potosi. Ryan Joseph, age 48 from Cuba City, was driving a Bard Materials 2003 Freightliner Dump Truck when he struck some overhead power lines. Joseph was exiting a driveway where he had just dumped a load. The dump box had not come all the way down as Joseph entered Dogtail Rd. The front of the dump box caught the overhead power lines. The lines were pulled down and a nearby pole was broke off at the base. There was no damage to the dump truck and Joseph was not injured. The Grant County Sheriff's Office was assisted in the matter by the Potosi Fire Department and Alliant Energy. Joseph was cited for inattentive driving. On July 18, 2019, at 1:30 P.M., the Grant County Sheriff's Office received a complaint of a reckless driver who was on Hwy 61 in Fennimore Township. The reporting party states the offending vehicle had passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed and almost side swiped motorist. A Grant County Sheriff's Deputy located the vehicle in Fennimore and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, Harley Eggert, 28 of Marshall WI., was arrested for Operating while Intoxicated, first offense. A search of Eggert's vehicle was conducted and open alcohol containers were discovered. Mr. Eggert was transported to the Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster for processing, before being released to the Grant County Jail. 2 Vehicle Crash Date 07/15/19 Address Hwy 81, PLATTEVILLE, WI 53818 On July  15th at approximately 12:39 p.m., a deputy was traveling south on Hwy 81 just north of Platteville and found a crash that just occurred.  Michael Tillman, age 29 of Dubuque, was driving his 2012 Chevy Silverado north on Hwy 81 and slowed to turn into a business parking lot.  Michelle Paulson, age 34 of Belmont, was driving her 2001 Chevy Impala North on Hwy 80 and observed the truck about to turn. Her foot  became stuck under her brake pedal and could not apply the brake. Paulson struck the rear of Tillman's vehicle. Tillman and Paulson were  both treated by Southwest Health EMS. Jack Decker, age 55 of Platteville, and a juvenile were passengers in Tillman's vehicle and they were  uninjured. Both vehicles received heavy damage. The Platteville Police Department, Platteville Fire Department, and SOS towing assisted at  the scene. The crash remains under investigation. CFS19-19527 1 Vehicle Rollover 07/

CFS19-19090 07/11/19 One vehicle crash with injury HWY 18, MT HOPE, WI 53816 On 7-11-19 at approximately 8:54 a.m., Roger White, age 74 of Brooklyn WI, was westbound on Hwy 18 in Mount Hope Township. Roger hit the shoulder with his 2018 Ford Escape. Roger over-corrected and lost control of his vehicle. Roger went airborne into the ditch striking a fence and overturning. Roger's vehicle came to rest on its top. Roger was transported to the hospital by West Grant EMS for minor injuries. Roger was cited for failure to maintain control. Assisting at the scene was Mount Hope Fire, West Grant EMS and B&M Towing. CFS19-19103 Three Vehicle Crash 07/11/19 HWY 81 / PLATTE RD, PLATTEVILLE, WI 53818 On July 11, 2019 at approximately 11:06 a.m., the Grant County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a three vehicle crash on Hwy 81 near Platte Rd located in the Township of Ellenboro. Page 1 of 2 Press Release July 1, 2019 CFS # Date Address TRAFFIC STOP RESULTS IN METH ARRESTS CFS19-17034 06/22/19 319 N HWY 61, LANCASTER, WI 53813 On June 22, 2019 at 1:18 P.M., a Grant County Sheriff's Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a 2009 Hyundai Sontana for an equipmentviolation at New Horizons in the City of Lancaster. Upon making contact with the four occupants, Hunter Theisen, 17 of Cassville (driver),Benjamin Wheeler, 19 of Cassville, Hunter Newberry, 17 of Boscobel, and Michael Anderson, 20 of Prairie Du Chien, the deputy observed signs of drug use. Additional resources responded, including K9 Arrow, with the Lancaster Police Department. As a result of the investigation,methamphetamine and additional contraband was located. Mr. Newberry was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and a probation hold was placed. Mr. Theisen was arrested for Operating under the Influence of a Restricted Controlled Substance.Both Mr. Wheel
