CFS19-19090 07/11/19 One vehicle crash with injury HWY 18, MT HOPE, WI 53816 On 7-11-19 at approximately 8:54 a.m., Roger White, age 74 of Brooklyn WI, was westbound on Hwy 18 in Mount Hope Township. Roger hit the shoulder with his 2018 Ford Escape. Roger over-corrected and lost control of his vehicle. Roger went airborne into the ditch striking a fence and overturning. Roger's vehicle came to rest on its top. Roger was transported to the hospital by West Grant EMS for minor injuries. Roger was cited for failure to maintain control. Assisting at the scene was Mount Hope Fire, West Grant EMS and B&M Towing. CFS19-19103 Three

Vehicle Crash 07/11/19 HWY 81 / PLATTE RD, PLATTEVILLE, WI 53818 On July 11, 2019 at approximately 11:06 a.m., the Grant County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a three vehicle crash on Hwy 81 near Platte Rd located in the Township of Ellenboro. Jeremy Weipert, age 36 from Mineral Point, was traveling westbound on Hwy 81 in his 1994 Chevy Silverado. Weipert was slowing down due to a truck and trailer turning onto a field road. There were other vehicles also slowing down in front of Weipert. Mark Banwarth, age 51 from Peosta, IA, was also traveling westbound on Hwy 81 behind Weipert's vehicle in a Banworth and Udelhoven company owned 2002 Sterling Industrial box truck. Banwarth was not paying attention, did not see the traffic slowing, could not stop in time, and struck the rear of Weipert's vehicle. Weipert's vehicle was pushed into the eastbound lane. At the same time, Nancy Goforth, age 49 from Potosi, was traveling eastbound in a 2017 Ford Econoline bus owned by Orchard Manor. As Weipert's vehicle traveled across the eastbound lane of traffic, Goforth struck the rear passenger side of Weipert's vehicle. Weipert's vehicle sustained severe rear end damage and was removed from the scene by SOS Towing of Platteville. Weipert's passenger, Dean Mcallister, age 44 of Westby, WI was transported to Southwest Health Center by Platteville EMS for evaluation and possible injury. Weipert was not injured and both he and his passenger were wearing their seatbelts. Banwarth's truck sustained some minor front end damage but was still drivable. Neither Banwarth or his passenger were injured and both were wearing their seatbelts. Goforth's bus sustained minor front end damage but was still drivable. Neither Goforth or the two residents that were riding the bus were injured. All were wearing seat belts. Banwarth was cited for inattentive driving and Weipert was cited for no insurance.

CFS19-19420 Car versus amish Buggy 07/14/19 HWY 18, MT HOPE, WI 53816 On July 14, 2019 at approximately 7:55 a.m, the Grant County Sheriff's Office responded to a motor vehicle versus an Amish Buggy crash, located on Hwy 18 near Ridge Road, Mount Hope Township. Anthony Lopez Lopez Herrera, age 29 of Montfort, was operating his 2009 Chevy Impala westbound on Highway 18.  Herrera vehicle passed four buggies also operating westbound on Highway 18. Herrera then struck a fifth buggy in the westbound lane of traffic. The buggy was occupied by Joseph S. Lapp, age 24 of rural Fennimore, Sarah M. Lapp, age 21 of Fennimore and 8 month old child. The Chevy struck the buggy on the left side and went through it and the vehicle continued, striking the horse in the left hind leg breaking the leg, but not killing the horse. The buggy and occupants came to rest in the soft grass on the right shoulder of Highway 18. Joseph and the 8 month old appeared to have no injuries, but Sarah complained pain and stiffness in her upper shoulders and back also thought she hit her head. All parties refused treatment at the scene. Haase Towing assisted on scene and other people were contacted by the owners of the buggy and horse to come and remove those items. Herrera was cited for Inattentive driving, and unsafe passing.
