Two Vehicle Crash With Injuries 

On February 1, 2020 at approximately 11:39am the Grant County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a two vehicle crash on Hwy 81 nearLaufenberg Ln located in the Township of Beetown. Christopher Cooley, age 41 from rural Cassville, was traveling westbound on Hwy 81 inhis 2019 GMC Sierra. At the same time Kelsey M. Borcherding, age 26 from Fennimore, was traveling eastboundon Hwy 81 in her 2000
Pontiac Montana. Both vehicles were negotiating a sharp curve on a hill. Borcherding crossed the double yellow center line and struck the front driver's side of Cooley's vehicle with the front driver's side of her vehicle. Cooley's vehicle careened out of control, left the roadway on the north side of the road, overturned, and came to rest on its driver's side. The vehicle was hanging off of a 100 foot embankment by a few small trees. There was a creek at the bottom of the valley/embankment. The Borcherding vehicle continued eastbound after the crash and came to rest in the south ditch. Both vehicles sustained heavy front end and driver's side damages. Borcherding and the three children in the vehicle
were transported to Grant Regional Health Center for non-life threatening injuries. Cooley was transported via private vehicle to Grant Regional Health Center for non-life threatening injuries as well. The Grant County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by Cassville EMS, Lancaster EMS, Cassville Fire Department, Cassville JAWS, Arrow Towing of Lancaster, and Bennett's Towing of Lancaster. All individuals
involved were wearing their seat belts or were secured in car seats. Borcherding was cited for Operating Left of Center, Operating a MotorVehicle without Insurance, and Non Registration of a Motor Vehicle.
