On January 30, 2020, at approximately 1:22 P.M., the Grant County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the State of Wisconsin wildlife property,
along the Wisconsin river in Muscoda Township, for a male party who's dog was caught in a foot trap. The reporting party, Lee Perko of Muscoda, was walking his dogs in the wildlife property when one of his dogs stepped in a foot trap. As Mr. Perko was attempting to free his own dog from the foot trap, the dog bit Mr. Perko in both hands. Mr. Perko was unable to free his dog after being bit. Blue River Fire and EMS,along with the Wisconsin DNR and a sheriff deputy were dispatched to the scene. Blue River Fire Department members were the first to arrive
on scene and assisted Mr. Perko, while other fireman freed Mr. Perko's dog from the trap. Mr. Perko was transported to a local hospital for injuries to both hands. The sheriff's deputy transported both dogs to the Riverdale Vet Clinic so the injured dog could receive medical care and
the other for safe keeping.
