Minor 2 Vehicle Crash

CFS19-25234 09/06/19 HWY 11 near FAIRPLAY RD., HAZEL GREEN, WI 53811
On 09/06/19 at approximately 5:30 p.m., Sally L. Wiegel, age 34 of Shullsburg, was traveling eastbound on Hwy 11 when she quickly appliedher brakes for a a vehicle that was turning on Fairplay Rd. Brittany L. Huffracker, age 30 of Marion, IA, was traveling behind Sally and wasunable to stop in time to avoid striking Sally's vehicle. Sally's 2013 Mazda 6 and Brittany's 2013 Ford Escape both sustained minor damage.

Brittany was transported to Mercy hospital for minor injuries. Brittany's son, age 7, was also transported for possible injuries. Hazel Green Fire,Hazel Green EMS and Kieler Service Center assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.Numerous Traffic Complaints results in Intoxicated Semi Driver

CFS19-25236 09/06/19 HWY 18, FENNIMORE, WI 53809
On September 6, 2019, at around 5:30 pm, the Grant County Communications Center received several calls of a semi driving recklessly onHwy 18 west of Montfort. The reports stated the semi was traveling at a high rate of speed as well as passingvehicles in no passing zones
and on the shoulder. A Deputy located the semi near Tormey Road at 77 mph in the 55 mph zone. After contact was made with the driver,Tyrone Davis, age 50 of Milwaukee, it was determined that he showed signs of impairment. Davis was arrested for operating motor vehicle
while intoxicated. Assisting the Sheriff's Office on scene was Fennimore Police. The incident remains under investigation and additionalcitations are likely.
**Persons arrested by the Grant County Sheriff's Office are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law. An arrest is only anindication that probable cause exists to bring formal charges.** The names of victims and witnesses to a crime have been withheld inaccordance with §950.04.

Train Versus boat and Trailer

CFS19-25444 09/08/19 CLOSING DAM RD, CASSVILLE, WI 53806
On September 8, 2019 around 9:50 a.m, the Grant County Sheriff's Office responded to a Train versus boat trailer crash in the Township ofCassville. Michael Bullock, Conductor and Dustin Hennigar engineer were operating a Locomotive for BNSF railway. Mitchell Niehaus, age23 of Platteville, was operating his 2018 Chevrolet Silverado, with Luke Withrow, age 24 of Platteville, as his passenger. Mitchell was pulling
his 14 foot 1996 Starcraft boat behind the truck. Mitchell was in the driveway to Schleicher's Landing Campground. Mitchell drove his truckand boat across the railroad tracks. Mitchell's truck made it across the tracks but his Starcraft boat got struck by the train. The train went
through the boat and trailer and the boat was ejected from the trailer and carried about 150 feet from the crossing. The trailer tongue and asection of frame was all that was left attached to the truck. The piece of trailer collided with a parked unattended truck parked next to the cabin
and the truck came to rest against the cabin. Assisting at the scene as Donnie's Towing from Dickeyville. No injuries were reported and thecrash remains under investigation.

Car versus pickup with inujuries
CFS19-25450 09/08/19 JO DAVIES ST, CASSVILLE, WI 53806

On September 8, 2019 around 12:20 p.m., a Grant County Sheriff's deputy responded to a car versus pickup truck crash at the intersection ofJo Davies Street and Dewey Street in the village of Cassville. Karen Bryant of Cassville was operating her 2009 dodge Caliber, traveling
eastbound on Jo Davies Street. John Okey of Cassville was operating a 1999 GMC Seirra pickup truck northbound on Dewey Street. TheBryant vehicle failed to yield the right of way entered the intersection and was struck by the Okey vehicle. The Bryant vehicle then exited theroadway, drove over top the the curb, and over top a small tree on the grass between the curb and sidewalk. Karen Bryant was transported byCassville Rescue Squad to Grant Regional for non-life threatening injuries. Assisting at the Scene was Band M towing, Cassville fireDepartment and Cassville Rescue squad. This crash is pending investigation.

One vehicle rollover with injury
CFS19-25513 09/09/19 HWY 18, Prairie Du Chien, WI
On September 9th at approximately 6:30 a.m., Grant County Dispatch received a 911 call reference a one vehicle roll over on US-18 near Fuller Hollow Road and the driver was out of the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Alana Recker, age 53 of Bloomington and she was diving a 2002 Ford Explorer westbound. The right side tire dropped off the newly paved roadway causing the driver to lose control and hit the ditch line before rolling over and coming to rest on it wheels. Recker was transported to Crossing River Hospital to be checked out by West Grant EMS. Assisting at the scene West Grant EMS, Bloomington Fire , and B&M towing. The crash remains under investigation

One vehicle rollover results in fatality
CFS19-25564 09/09/19 County P/ County X, BAGLEY, WI 53801 On 09/09/2019 at approximately 7:12 p.m., the Grant County Sheriff's Office took a report of a one vehicle rollover with injury. Nathan
Wachter, age 27 of Mt. Hope WI, was traveling westbound on County P in his 2012 Dodge Ram. Wachter failed to negotiate a curve, leaving
the north side of the roadway. Wachter struck a tree, then rolled several times. Wachter was ejected and pinned under the vehicle. Wachter was extracted from underneath the vehicle by Bloomington Fire Department. Wachter was transported to Crossing Rivers ER, In Prarie du Chien by West Grant EMS. Wachter was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. Grant County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Bloomington Fire, Patch Grove Fire, West Grant EMS, Bagley First Responders, and Milo's Towing. The crash remains under investigation.
This is the 7th person killed in a crash in Grant County for 2019 (Six crashes total, with 7 people killed)
