Grant County Sheriff's Deputies Make Arrest

On 2/25/2020, Grant County Sheriff Deputies were attempting to locate a possible stolen vehicle out of Iowa. It was reported that the vehicle was being operated by Mitchell L. McAuliffe, 35, and it was last seen in the area of Pikes Peak Road just after 7:00 AM.

 

At approximately 7:45 AM, a Grant County Sheriff Deputy observed the suspect vehicle traveling south on West Banfield Road near Kress Lane. The Sheriff Deputy turned around to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle when it took off at a high rate of speed. The pursuit continued on south on West Banfield Road and on to Indian Creek Road. The deputy lost sight of the suspect vehicle around a curve near Dark Lane. After getting through the curve, the deputy observed the suspect vehicle stopped and was unoccupied. Additional deputies arrived on scene to set a perimeter until a K9 unit arrived.

 

While conducting a K9 track for the suspect, it was reported that a suspicious person matching the suspect was observed on Kress Lane. Sheriff Deputies responded to the area and located McAuliffe in the woods approximately 100 yards off of Kress Lane. McAuliffe was taken into custody by Sheriff Deputies at approximately 9:22 AM. McAuliffe was transported to the Grant County Jail where he was booked on Fleeing an Officer, Operating a Vehicle without Owners Consent, and Criminal Damage to Property. McAuliffe is also on probation. The Grant County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Dickeyville Police Department, Lancaster Police Department K9 Unit, and the Iowa County Sheriff's Office.

 

**Persons arrested by the Grant County Sheriff's Office are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law. An arrest is only an indication that probable cause exists to bring formal charges.** The names of victims and witnesses to a crime have been withheld in accordance with §950.04.

CFS20-17002 Date 07/16/20 ONE VEHICLE CRASH WITH MINOR DAMAGE Address HWY 18 / OAK RD, FENNIMORE, WI 53809 On July 16, 2020, at approximately 7:55 A.M., Jessica Kricke (22 of Fennimore), was driving her 2009 Lincoln MKZ wes on Hwy 18 in Mt. Ida Township, when she swerved to avoid an animal in the road and drove into the north ditch. Kricke drove over several large rocks in the ditch, which caused damage to the undercarriage of her vehicle. Collision Specialists responded and removed the vehicle from the ditch. Kricke was wearing her seat belt and wasn't injured in the crash. No charges will be filed in this matter. Three Vehicle Crash 10/07/20 County Road U / Salis Road, POTOSI, WI On October 7, 2020 at 5:21 PM the Grant County Dispatch Center received a report of a three vehicle crash at County Road U and Salis Road. A 2005 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Ryan Flesch, age 31 of Potosi, was traveling east on County Road U, behind a 2005 Toyota Sienna, driven by Hilary Sahr, age 39 of Cassville. Sahr activated her right turn signal and began to slow to turn right onto Salis Road. Flesch did not see that Sahr was slowing to make a turn and struck the rear of her vehicle. The impact caused the Sahr's vehicle to cross the center line and spin around and strike a 2013 Volkswagen Passat, being driven by Randy Reynolds of Potosi, coming to a rest in the westbound lane. Between the three vehicle's involved there were 11 occupants. Flesch was cited as a result of the crash.
