Sleepy Driver Crashes into Guardrail
CFS19-31790 11/08/19 Hwy 133 / SAND HILL RD, BOSCOBEL, WI 53805

On November 8, 2019, just after 6pm, Ethan Merwin, 28 of Woodman, was on his way home from work when he fell asleep at the wheel. He awoke right before he collided with the guardrail end. The 2003 Silverado he was driving, spun around and completely blocked the Westbound lane of Hwy 133. Ethan refused medical treatment at the scene. Assisting at the scene was Boscobel Fire, Boscobel EMS, and Terry's Tire & Towing. The crash remains under investigation.


2 Vehicle Crash
CFS19-31858 11/09/19 HWY 80 / HWY 11, CUBA CITY, WI 53807

On November 9, 2019 at approximately 11:32 am, Jeffery Hyde,age 47 of Galena, IL, was traveling North on Highway 80 near the intersection of Highway 11 with his family in his 2019 Volkswagon Jetta. Matthew Westemeier, age 37 of Platteville, WI, was traveling South on Highway 80 in his 2007 Ford Fusion. Westemeier slowed to turn East on Highway 11 turning into the Northbound lane of traffic. Hyde was unable to avoid Westemeier's Ford causing the two vehicles to crash. There were no injuries sustained in the crash. The Grant County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by Guys Towing, Kieler. The crash remains under investigation. 

2 Vehicle Crash in Montfort
CFS19-31873 11/09/19 W GRANT ST / WISCONSIN ST, MONTFORT, WI
On November 9, 2019 at approximately 2:33 pm, Cathy Cull, age 63 of Oregon, WI, was traveling South on Wisconsin Street in the Village of Montfort near the intersection of W. Grant Street in her 2007 Honda Ridgeline. Cull approached the intersection slowing for a yield sign. Cull drove into the intersection without noticing a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan that was driven by Nicole Williams, age 45 of Montfort, WI. Williams was unable to avoid Cull's Ridgeline. Both vehicles crashed into each other. No party was injured in the crash. Cull was cited for Failure toYield Right of Way. The Grant County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by Haase's Towing, Montfort. 


Semi Tanker Rollover

CFS19-32037 11/11/19 HWY 35/61/81, LANCASTER, WI 53813
On November 11, 2019 at 11:40 AM Chad Gehrke, age 42 of Lancaster, was driving a 2002 Kenworth with tanker trailer south on Hwy 61 in South Lancaster Township. Gehrke began turning east on Hwy 81 when the trailer broke free from the tractor and rolled over into the ditch. Approximately 2000 gallons of liquid agricultural feed spilled from the tank. The tractor and tanker are owned by Cobb Shipping Service of Rewey WI. The tanker trailer received heavy damage and tractor had minor damage. Gehrke was not injured. Emergency crews wee on scene for about 3 hours. Assisting at the scene was the Lancaster Fire department, Lancaster EMS, the Grant County Highway Department, and the Wisconsin State Patrol.

Two vehicle crash

CFS19-32059 11/11/19 SOUTHWEST RD, PLATTEVILLE, WI 53818
On November 11, 2019 at approximately 6:07 p.m., the Grant County Sheriff's Office received a call of a two vehicle crash on Southwest Road, Platteville. Brandon J. Drews, (22) of Green Lake, WI was driving north on Southwest Road in his 2008 Chevy Cobalt. Dalton J. Kieler (19) of Platteville was traveling south in his 1996 Oldsmobile. Both driver's met on a sharp corner. Drews was unable to avoid crossing the center line and crashing into Kieler due to icy road conditions. Neither of the drivers were injured nor were the three passengers in Kieler's vehicle. Both vehicles were a total loss. Two Vehicle Crash w/ Two Injured
CTY D / CTY H, CUBA CITY, WI
On November 10, 2019 at approximately 6:30 a.m., the Grant County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a two vehicle crash at the intersection of CTH D and CTH H located in the Township of Smelser. JoAnn Harris, age 54 from rural Cuba City, was traveling eastbound onCTH H in her 2010 Ford Explorer. At the same time, Adriano Ayres, age 42 from rural Platteville, was traveling southbound on CTH D in his 2010 Toyota Prius. Ayres did not stop at the stop sign on CTH D at the intersection with CTH H and struck the front driver's side of Harris'vehicle. The two vehicles careened into the ditch on the south eastern area of the intersection. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and
there was airbag deployment in both vehicles. Harris was transported to Finley Hospital in Dubuque due to injuries sustained in the crash, and
Ayres was transported to Southwest Health Center in Platteville due to injuries he sustained in the crash. Both drivers were transported by both Cuba City EMS squads. Ayres was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign. 
The Grant County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by
Cuba City EMS, the Cuba City Fire Department, and Wisconsin State Patrol. The vehicles were removed by Munyon's Towing of Cuba Cityand Donnie's Tire and Auto of Dickeyville.
