On October 11, 2019, at 7:05 A.M., the Grant County Sheriff's Office was notified of a motor vehicle crash on Hwy 151 in Jamestown Township, where Sandy Hook Road goes underneath the highway. Emergency services personnel were dispatched to the scene and located
a 2012 Jeep Wrangler, on its roof in the west ditch, along Hwy 151, just over an embankment (making it difficult to see from the highway). Emergency personnel located the driver in the vehicle, who was trapped and unresponsive. The Jaws of Life was used to free the driver of the

Mr. Linscheid was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. A preliminary investigation showed that the vehicle traveled off the road, striking a guardrail, slid along a cement barrier on an overpass before traveling over the cement barrier onto an embankment.
